GUMBO WARS, INC., COOK-OFF TEAM RULES
Team Registration Fee $50
- Gumbo may be assembled and prepared prior or the day of competition. Electricity will be provided for cooking team. Cooking team will be responsible for extension cords to power source.
- Gumbo of any style is welcome. i.e., Alligator, Chicken, Sausage, Seafood, Vegetarian (is there a thing?).
- Each team must prepare a minimum of 5 gallons for the competition.
- Gumbo Wars Inc., will provide tasting cups, tasting spoons, napkins, ticket container, trash bags. Each team will be responsible for their own cooking and prep needs.
- We will provide a 10 x 10 space for your cooking team.
- Smoking will not be permitted at this event.
- Please bring a fire extinguisher if you will be using an open flame burner.
- Teams are encouraged to decorate their area with a theme to attract more attention and encourage a fun environment.
- People's Choice Award for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be given out. 1st place will win a monetary prize that consists of 50% of the total amount received for Gumbo entries. Trophies will be given to the top three teams.
- Cooking teams may begin setting up at 9:00 a.m. The Cook’s Meeting will be held at 11:15 a.m., so be on the lookout for an announcement.
- Tasting begins at 1:00 p.m.
- Tasting ends at 4:00 p.m.
- Awards to follow.
- Each team will receive 4 arm bands.
- Please clean your area before you leave.
- Take trash to proper receptacle. We will have volunteers assisting with trash removal.
- Gumbo Wars Inc, its officers, volunteer's agents’ employees or other representative shall not be held liable for, and are hereby released from liability for any damages, loss harm or injury to the person or property of the vendor or any of its officers, agents, employees or other representatives, resulting from theft, fire, water, weather, accident or other causes.
- Please be curious. We are proving LIVE music so we ask you to please not play music in your space
*The winners of Gumbo Wars will be tallied by the total number of tickets collected in your Gumbo Wars Voting Box. Remember this is a charity event and here to raise money. Additional voting tickets are always available for $10 a piece. Get creative!
